DETAILS HIGHLIGHTS

In 2004 Three O’clock and Future publishing began a project together to review the prospects offered by and advances made in the mobile market place.

After a long consultation process it was decided that Future Publishing would create a mobile version of their PC PLUS title. It would be launched as a monthly magazine and released to coincide with the release of the paper magazine.

The Editor of the magazine was extremely active in the process and was hands on during the edition layout process. The PC PLUS team used the Three O’clock content layout tool to quickly and easily build a mobile magazine and Three O’clock were only used to consult on key technical issues. This ability to work independently of Three O’clock and mobile operators was a major factor for PC PLUS and meant that PC they had total control over the project.

PC PLUS produced a very simple magazine so that all Java phones, regardless of capabilities were able to download the magazine. A number of different sources were used to promote the mobile magazine, most notably the paper magazine and other Future Publishing titles.

The magazine was free to users, contain a little advertising material but was mainly made up of interesting articles and reviews. Download statistics were compiled and given to PC PLUS on a monthly basis.
